Why the Earth have an elliptical orbit ....?

Image
Why does earth follow an elliptical orbit? Why not a circular orbit? Earth's orbit is almost a perfect circle; its eccentricity is only 0.0167 It is explained by PROF. H.K. SAHU ofChennai Mathematical Institute through The Hindu. http://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/article2366177.ece you can also like to read these:    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbit http://www.windows2universe.org/physical_science/physics/mechanics/orbit/ellipse.html here are some more interesting stuff http://www.analemma.com/Pages/EllipticalOrbit/EllipticalOrbitEffect/../../../Graphics/eccentricity/CvE_Part1.mov http://www.analemma.com/Pages/EllipticalOrbit/EllipticalOrbitEffect/EllipticalOrbitEffect.html

improving GPS accuracy in the 3rd dimension-Altitude

Researchers who are working to fix global positioning system (GPS) errors have devised software to take a more accurate measurement of altitude . Read here for details http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-08-gps-accuracy-3rd-dimension.html

How a Meteor looks from Space

Meltic of Arctic to pause..... then resume.....?????

Image
Scientists says that level of Arctic sea ice would decrease rapidly and will eventually disappear during summer if climate change continues. But in an unexpected new result, the NCAR research team found that Arctic ice under current climate conditions is as likely to expand as it is to contract for periods of up to about a decade. So, temporary halt to the loss of the ice!!! At longer time scales, 50 or 60 years, there’s no escaping the loss of ice in the summer..... The study appears this week in Geophysical Research Letters. Tsunami @Japan related to Breaking of Antarctic Ice Shelf...???

It's indeed a interesting to see how the Earthquake near Japan coast triggered a Tsunami and caused the breakage of an ice shelf in Antarctica...!!!! U can see here the images, animation of this hypothesis. What is Crow Instability in Contrails...?

Image
The bottom 2 images are zoomed portion from 1st image. These contrails exhibit a phenomenon known as Crow Instability. Vortices that form within contrails have been observed to occasionally interact with each other....
